Florida's race for chief financial officer may be the closest statewide contest on paper. Republican Blaise Ingoglia, a homebuilder and former chair of the Republican Party of Florida, was appointed to the job in July 2025. Democrat Annette Taddeo is a former state senator who owns a translation business. Five polls in a row have the race within about 2 points; the newest, from St. Pete Polls in early October, had Ingoglia 44, Taddeo 42. The money is lopsided. Counting his campaign and two committees, Ingoglia had raised about 8.6 million dollars through October 9. Taddeo had raised about 600 thousand. Creative Loafing Tampa Bay's editors back Taddeo. The Tampa Bay Times made no recommendation here; the Orlando Sentinel and the Sun Sentinel endorsed Taddeo. Ingoglia is running on fiscal oversight and audits of local government spending. He is backed by conservative groups including the Florida Chamber and Florida Realtors, by police unions and by 60 sheriffs. Taddeo is running on insurance costs and anti-corruption. Her ads accuse Ingoglia of a 3 billion dollar insurer bailout; the site Political Cortadito notes he voted for only one of the bailout votes. Progressive groups including the Florida AFL-CIO, Ruth's List and Equality Florida back Taddeo. Research as of October 23, 2026. Sources and the full picture are on this page.
